"Project 2025" (for more information on Project 2025, click on the link), the Heritage Foundation's blueprint for a future conservative (Trump) administration forms the backdrop to our discussion, which will include audience comments and participation. Although President Trump has denied any knowledge of, or connection to "Project 2025," over 140 officials from his first four years in office (and prospective candidates for a second administration) wrote or contributed to the 900-page document. And the policies closely parallel that of the first Trump administration and the current campaign.
The brief introductory remarks by five local residents will begin the discussion by focusing on the impact the policies outlined in "Project 2025" would have on our local community on women's health and reproductive rights, education, climate change, immigration and legal protections and rights.
This community panel is the fourth in a series of public talks and presentations sponsored by the Transylvania Partners for Democracy (TPD). A group of local citizens formed the organization earlier this year in an effort to bring together Transylvania County neighbors to explore the critical importance of November's local, state and national elections in shaping the future of democracy in the United States.
TPD welcomes supporters and financial contributions (Click on the link to donate!) from concerned citizens as we develop monthly public forums that explore the critical consequences of the fall, 2024 elections.
